Hi everyone! It’s been a while since we posted (jeez, looks like I’ve started several posts with those words). We are as active as ever, spinning, knitting, crocheting, and loving our alpacas. There just doesn’t seem to be time left over for blogging…
Still! Here are a few pictures of my last project. A friend wanted to crochet a little stuffed monkey for a baby shower, so I spun him two contrasting colors. Custom yarn!
I named the one on the left “Honeyed Flax” and the one right “Wild Rice”. Actually…I name every marled brown yarn “Wild Rice”. This skein was a complex blend of soft (but terribly float-y) camel roving, silk roving, and alpaca roving.
I haven’t totaled my yarn mileage in years, but I’m guessing I’ve doubled my last estimate of a dozen miles of yarn. My scotch brake (it tensions the flyer of my wheel) broke last week! An easy fix, but also a good milestone – I’ve put in some time with this wheel.
Our last show of the season is this Saturday, December 2nd at Cheyenne Mountain High School (in Colorado Springs). Come see us! Or drop Mom and Dad a line (you can find us on Facebook) and stop by the ranch.
